Chris has been working in the behavioral health field for the past 8 years. His first experience within the field was as a client in a substance abuse treatment in Florida, to then becoming the director of operations of that same facility. “I truly feel that having my own experience with recovery has given me the ability to see both sides of the fence and have a clear understanding of each perspective.

Troy Roundy
Director of Business Development
Troy has been working in the field of behavioral health for over 8 years now. Prior to working in this field he worked in corporate america in telecommunications, real estate, hospitality and sales. While working in those industries, Troy battled through years of untreated mental illness and substance abuse and ultimately led him to hit rock bottom multiple times. After finally getting into treatment and following a continuum of care, he found his passion for helping others. “Working in the space of mental health, substance use and overall wellness has given purpose to all the pain and darkness I have experienced over the years. My past trauma, battle with depression and anxiety have equipped me to better help those in need of our services. I’ve walked a mile in their shoes and have made it to the other side.” Troy wishes to make an impact in the behavioral health field and provide better access to high quality treatment services. There are needs in the community that Arbor Wellness aims to fill and be a better resource for individuals struggling with their mental health. Troy loves spending time with his family, especially his son, watching movies, exercising, watching different sporting events with friends, traveling and finding new ways to practice self care and wellness. He is passionate about helping others and hopes Arbor Wellness becomes an example of how mental health treatment can be better than what the industry has done in the past.
Shelly Davis-Wise
Primary Therapist
Shelley recently graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University with her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. A mature therapist in the late-summer season of life, Shelley is thrilled to find meaning, purpose, and professional satisfaction as a therapist at Arbor Wellness. Born into a military family, Shelley lived a somewhat nomadic life until a job landed her in Nashville in 1996. Shelley was able to deeply connect with Nashville’s strong 12-step recovery community and learn to cope with, and even embrace the ambiguous mess we call life. ALL of her life experiences, from her own struggles with substance abuse and emotional dysregulation, to her unfulfilling job history, seem to have ushered her to this life path. For her, there is no greater satisfaction than witnessing self-acceptance, self-compassion, and healing in clients who suffer under the weight of mental illness and addiction.
With the aim of empowering her clients, Shelley believes in a collaborative counseling experience. She has a distinct interest in trauma therapies and is trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Level 1 Brainspotting, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Shelley is enthusiastic about mindfulness practices; when we let go of how we *think* things should be, and learn to accept what is, the present can be a place of simplicity and rest. For those with mental illness, self-acceptance is key: we can’t begin to change until we thoroughly accept ourselves exactly as we are. Authenticity is a deeply-held value of hers and she encourages her clients to either discover or recover, as the case may be, their original innocent and joyful face. In her spare time, Shelley likes to hang with her teenage son, play with her dog, Pippa, garden, crochet, cook, and, if she’s lucky, refinish any of the furniture she has rescued from the roadside.
